STUDENTS COUNSIL ELECTIONS

In the light of inclusion policy, the student's council policy has been reviewed to make sure maximum participation of students in various curricular and co-curricular activities. As inclusion is one of the top most priorities of the institution therefore students were provided with a platform to play their active role in school’s activities. This will not only help them improve their skills and capabilities but will also help them develop their leadership and innovation.
Here are the main points of student's council duties/responsibilities and procedure of election/selection.
The Principal is responsible for the overall supervision and guidance of Vice Principal/Section Heads/Deputy Section Heads and Class Teachers for the smooth running of curricular and co-curricular activities of the Section.
The Section Head/ Phase I.C is responsible for the overall discipline of the section / phase concerned. He/She leads the team of Prefects and Class Representatives (C.R).
To improve the general discipline & academics of the class, the class teacher guides the team of Prefects, Subject Monitors and CRs.

Council Members (Monitors/prefects/captains ,vice captains etc)

Prefect is responsible for the discipline in and outside the classroom and active participation in leading the house in co-curricular activities.
Prefects are selected from Class I to XII, 01 from each House (04 from each class).
The candidates submit their applications. The Committee goes through these applications and most appropriate candidates are selected as per policy.
Head Boy/Head Girl/House Captains and Captainsare elected among Prefects from Phase IV, .All the Prefects/monitors and CRs elect the Head Boy/Head Girl through secret voting. Candidates bagging more votes are declared as Head Boy/Head Girl and the runner-up as Deputy Head Boy/Head Girl. In case of tie there will be a toss to decide positions. Candidates are encouraged to run campaign for this purpose.

Class Representative/Class Monitors (C.R):

C.R acts as a bridge between students and school management. He/She represents the class and conveys students’ problems / issues to the management. C.Rs are elected from Class I to XII, 01 from each class/section. The Election Committee notifies the given criteria for the general information of all students. The eligible candidates submit their applications. The Committee goes through these applications and 5 most appropriate candidates are finalized for election from each class. All the students of the class vote for these candidates. Candidates bagging more votes are declared as C.R and runner-up as C.R II. In case of tie there is a toss to decide positions.

Subject Monitors:

Subject Monitors are selected from Class I to XII, 01 for each subject. One Subject Monitor among the 03 toppers of the subject concerned during Term Exam is selected for one term. However, the committee has the discretion to extend or terminate the duration keeping in view the performance of the Subject Monitor.

Meetings/Follow-up:

Meetings are conducted as per the following scheduling with a view to look into students problem closely and do the necessary follow up. Prefects and Class Monitors are encouraged to express their views and problems during meetings. The Principal shall hold meeting once in a Term with the Prefects/C.R to discuss with them the overall situation of discipline or whenever necessary. The Vice Principal shall hold Bi-Monthly meetings with the Prefects/C.R to discuss with them the overall situation of discipline. The Section Head/Deputy Section/Phase In charge shall hold daily discussion/feedback session with the Prefects/C.R in the presence of Incharge Discipline /Physical staff to discuss with them various matters of discipline in and outside the class rooms. The Section Head shall hold monthly meetings with Prefects/C.R and minutes of meetings are maintained for follow-up. The Class Teachers shall hold meeting with all the students of his/her class as and when required/directed and submits its minutes to VP/Principal.
